General Information:
State Route 55 is a suburban arterial route in Perth's eastern suburbs. It consists of multi-laned roadway which for the most part is divided. The route covers residential, industrial and commercial areas.
History:
- 1935: Garratt Road Bridge Upstream (southbound bridge) constructed using the sustenance labour scheme. It is the longest extant timber road bridge in Western Australia, and possibly the longest ever constructed in the State. 2
- 1972: Garratt Road Bridge Downstream constructed (northbound bridge). 2
