General Information:
State Route 116 is a rural route, and the section between Moora and Yardarino was once part of the main highway linking Perth with the coastal town of Geraldton.
Passing through several small wheatbelt towns, the route has become a quiet tourist route away from the heavier traffic along the Brand Highway.
Multiplexes along the route include:
- Tourist Way 360, for 126 km, between Bindoon and Watheroo.
History:
- 1976: Brand Highway opened to traffic, NR1 shifted to the Brand Highway alignment. 2
- 25 May 1993: Land resumption for widening of the junction of Bindoon-Moora Rd (SR116) and Great Northern Hwy (NH95) at Bindoon. 3
