General Information:
C743 is mostly a semi-rural route just outside the Melbourne metropolitan area, linking the end of the Tullamarine Freeway and Melbourne Airport with the Mount Macedon ranges region. C743 does feature a small freeway grade section approaching Terminal Dr, Melbourne Dr and Tullamarine Fwy (M2) at Melbourne Airport.
The route passes by Melbourne's international airport, residential, commercial and rural areas.
History:
- 1857: Construction of original bridge over Jacksons Creek in Sunbury. 2
- 1870: Opening of the current bridge over Jacksons Creek in Sunbury, officially known as Bluestone Road Bridge over Jacksons Creek. 2
- 1860: Construction of the original bridge in timber over Deep Creek at Bulla. 3
- 1861: Construction of bridge over Melbourne-Bendigo railway line in Sunbury. 4
