Known by its local names, Ryrie Street, Portarlington Road, Geelong Road and Newcombe Street, C123 is an arterial route linking the eastern suburbs of Geelong with the Geelong CBD, Corio-Waurn Ponds Rd (A10) and Hamilton Hwy (B140). It's a mix of divided and undivided road, servicing, commercial, residential and semi-rural areas.
