State routes were introduced to Tasmania during the 1960s. The system featured 9 routes primarily covering the State Highway network at the time. Alphanumeric route numbering was introduced in 1979, and replaced the state route numbering system. 1

This page concentrates on State Routes that have been decommissioned, due to the introduction of the alphanumeric route numbering system.
