General Information:

C402 is mostly a rural route near Launceston and once formed part of the main road between Launceston and Hobart and as a result one of the oldest European settlement roads in the region. Its successor, the current alignment of Midland Hwy (NH1) parallels C402 for most of its length.

History:

28 August 1987: The roundabout at Breadalbane opened to traffic. The roundabout was constructed as part of the extension of the Launceston Southern Outlet Road between Breadalbane and Strathroy. 1
