General Information:

C312 is a rural route linking Midland Hwy (NH1) and Tasman Hwy (A1) in Tasmania's central east. The route services a number of small towns and settlements including Oatlands, one of Tasmania's oldest European settlements. High Street used to form part of the main route between Launceston and Hobart.

History:

1970s: Oatlands bypassed and Midland Hwy re-routed to the northeast of the town, leaving High Street to local traffic. 1
1979: State Route 1 decommissioned. It was replaced by National Highway 1. 2
