General Information:

The Meander Valley Way is the former Bass Highway (National Highway 1) alignment between Deloraine and Launceston. The route services several small towns and is most of rural highway standard.

History:

1980s: Carrick and Hadspen bypassed by new alignment of Bass Hwy.
1990s: Deloraine bypassed by new alignment of Bass Hwy.
2001: Hagley-Westbury bypass was completed, leaving the former alignment to become the Meander Valley Way.

Old National Highway trailblazer still in place on the Meander Valley Way at Carrick, formerly the Bass Hwy (NH1), approaching Oaks Rd (C511). June 2007. This sign has since been removed.
