General Information:

B19 is a route linking the satellite city of Gawler with the Barossa Valley. Through Gawler the route utilises one of the oldest roads leading in and out of Adelaide, Main North Road.

Outside of Gawler, B19 uses Barossa Valley Way which was originally part of the Sturt Highway, and connects most of the regional population centres within the district and carries more than 4000 vehicles per day. 2

History:

Late 1960s: Sturt Highway moved from Barossa Valley Way alignment to the Gawler Bypass.
1998: Implementation of B19 route number.
27 January 2004: Implementation of overtaking lanes between Rowland Flat and Tanunda. Also between Gawler and Sandy Creek. 2
