General Information:
State Route 62 is an important country route in Queensland's far northern tablelands. It acts as the main route connecting several small communities with larger towns such as Winton and Boulia, plus the route is used by freight and mining industries. It also connects with 2 major highways and another developmental route along the western edge of the state. The route also forms part of Australia's Dinosaur Trail.
Multiplexes along the route include:
- A2, for 5 km, Winton.
- A6, for 100 m, Hughenden.
- Australia's Dinosaur Trail, for 215 km, between Winton and Hughenden.
History:
- 2008: Sealing of the route between Hughenden and The Lynd. 4
- 2010: Safety improvements between Winton and Boulia, including sealing, widening, delineation. Plus work on rest areas. 5
