General Information:

State Route 49 is a rural highway that links the Burnett and Darling Downs regions of Queensland with south western outback Queensland. The route passes through rural, residential and commercial zones.

Multiplexes along the route include:
A2, for 500 m, Dalby.
A3, for 2 km, Goomeri.
A55, for 9 km, St George.
A71, for 4 km, Cunnamulla.
Great Bunya Tourist Drive, for 43 km, between Bell and Kumbia, and also for 125 km, between Kingaroy and Bells Bridge.

History:

18 December 1968: Moonie Hwy seal completed and opened to traffic.
November 2007: Widening works begins on 4 km section of Bunya Highway west of Dalby. 4
December 2008: Safety upgrades at Moonjarre Crossing, about 32 kilometres west of Cunnamulla, completed. The work involved the installation of new culverts, the re-alignment of an existing curve and road widening. 5
August 2009: Widening of Wide Bay Highway for 3.6 km, east of Goomeri. 6
Septemeber 2011: Installation of traffic signals at the junction of Bunya Highway (Youngman Street) and Avoca Street in Kingaroy. 7
