General Information:
State Route 32 is considerably shorter than it once was when it was assigned its route number. The route used to travel via along Mount Coot-tha Road, then the current M5 corridor of Western Freeway and Centenary Highway. When Metroads were introduced to Brisbane back in the 1990s, Metroad 5 was given to Mount Coot-tha Road, Western Freeway and Centenary Highway, thus shortening the length of State Route 32.
The route is a 4 lane suburban arterial road, which can sometimes be heavily congested, and is a major corridor for traffic between the Brisbane central business district and the western suburbs. The area it passes through is mostly residential, however some commercial buildings exist as well as the historic XXXX brewery.
History:
- 1962: Regular tram services ceased along Milton Road. 1
- 1995: State Route 32 shortened with the introduction of Metroad 5 along Mt Coot-Tha Road, Western Freeway and Centenary Highway.
