General Information:

Morshead Drive is an arterial road which continues on from Parkes Way at the Kings Avenue roundabout at Russell. The route is a dual carriageway with 2 lanes in each direction.

The road was named after Leslie Morshead, who commanded the 33rd Battalion of the AIF, between 1916 and 1919, and the 9th Division during siege of Tobruk and the Battle of El Alamein in World War 1. 1

21 July 1960: Name was gazetted. 1
9 December 1964: Speed limit raised to 40 MPH. 2
1971: Traffic lights installed at the junction of Morshead Drive and Dairy Flat Road. 3
5 April 1984: The roundabout with Dairy Road opened to traffic. 4
2015: Morshead Dr truncated east of Monaro Hwy (B23) to allow for construction of Majura Pkwy (M23).
