General Information:
Flemington Road is a major arterial route linking Gungahlin with Canberra's northern suburbs. It is mostly dual carriageway and services residential and light industrial areas. Flemington Road once ended at Mitchell but was extended to provide a road link for Gungahlin to the Federal Highway.
History:
- 21 July 1960: Flemington Road name gazetted. 1
- 1994: Canberra's first "bus only" traffic lights in place at the intersection of Flemington Road and Northbourne Avenue. 2
- August 2010: Completion of the $20m duplication of Flemington Road. 3 The duplication covered Flemington Road from Well Station Drive to Hibberson Street. 4
- November 2010: Work completed on the $1.8 million Flemington Road bus lane. 3
- 2016: Work commenced on light rail construction from Gungahlin town centre to Federal Highway.
