General Information:
Named after politician and tobacconist, William Patrick Ashley (1886-1958) 1, Ashley Drive is a divided arterial road located in the ACT's Tuggeranong district.
Servicing residential and commercial areas, the road connects with several east-west arterial roads including Erindale Dr (which links Woden and Tuggeranong town centres), Isabella Dr (which links Monaro Hwy (A23) to Tuggeranong town centre) and Johnson Dr (which links Monaro Hwy (A23) with the Lanyon Valley)
History:
- March 2016: Construction of pedestrian bridge and noise wall as part of preliminary work for Ashley Dr duplication. 2
- July 2017: Works begin on the duplication of Ashley Dr between Erindale Dr and Johnson Dr and upgrades between Sternberg Cr and Ashley Dr. 3
- October 2017: Completion of relocation of underground services, Statton Street and Bugden Avenue underpasses and Monks Creek Bridge, and installation of noise barriers as part of Ashley Dr duplication works between Eridnale Dr and Johnson Dr. 4
- November 2017: Traffic switched to new section of road between Erindale Dr and Isabella Dr. 5
- May 2018: Final layer of road resurfacing completed on Ashley Dr southbound between Isabella Dr and Johnson Dr as the duplication of Ashley Dr. 6
- June 2018: Road resurfacing as part of upgrade works performed on the existing lanes of Ashley Dr both northbound and southbound between Johnson Dr and Isabella Dr. 7
- September 2018: Resurfacing works as part of Ashley Dr upgrade on the northbound carriageway of Ashley Dr between Johnson Dr and Isabella Dr. 8
- 13 March 2019: As part of duplication works, road resurfacing took place on the northbound lanes of Ashley Drive between Isabella Drive and Erindale Drive. 9
